Device Repairs 8 article(s)

Questions about repair services, shipping, and pricing

How do I ship my device for repair?

Pack your device securely in a box with padding. Include a note describing the issue. Ship to our address listed on the mail-in page. We will send you a confirmation email once received.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, cash, and check. Business accounts can be invoiced with Net-30 terms after approval.

Do you offer emergency or rush service?

Rush service is a $75 non-refundable fee. Paying the rush fee moves your device ahead in the repair queue. It does not guarantee a specific completion time or turnaround. Rush availability is first come, first served.

Can you fix HDMI ports on gaming consoles?

Yes. HDMI port replacement is one of our most common console repairs. We service PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The repair involves micro soldering a new HDMI connector to the motherboard. All repairs include a warranty.

What is micro soldering and when is it needed?

Micro soldering is precision board-level repair using specialized equipment and microscopes. It's needed for component-level fixes like replacing charging ICs, audio codecs, HDMI retimers, and other surface-mount components. We use this for laptops, consoles, and industrial boards when standard part swaps won't fix the issue.

Do you offer data recovery services?

Yes. We recover data from failed hard drives, SSDs, USB drives, and SD cards. We assess the drive first and provide a quote before proceeding - no data, no charge. For physically damaged drives requiring clean room work, we partner with specialized labs. Logical recoveries (deleted files, corrupted partitions) are handled in-house.

Can you repair ECUs and automotive electronics?

Yes. We repair Engine Control Units (ECUs), Engine Control Modules (ECMs), and other automotive electronics. Common issues include failed capacitors, corroded traces, and damaged connectors. We diagnose at the component level and repair rather than replace, saving significant cost over dealer replacement.

What laptop repairs do you offer?

We handle screen replacements, batteries, keyboards, charging ports, and board-level repairs requiring micro soldering. We stock common parts for Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Apple laptops.

Questions about VoIP phone systems, call quality, and setup

My calls sound choppy or have poor quality

Call quality issues are usually caused by network congestion or incorrect QoS settings. Ensure your router prioritizes VoIP traffic (SIP/RTP ports), use a wired connection for your desk phone, and check your internet upload speed is at least 100 Kbps per concurrent call. We can run a VoIP quality test remotely to diagnose the issue.

What is SIP ALG and should I disable it?

SIP ALG (Application Layer Gateway) is a router feature that modifies VoIP packets. It often causes one-way audio, dropped calls, and registration failures. We recommend disabling SIP ALG on your router. Most Netgear, Linksys, and consumer-grade routers have this enabled by default. Contact us if you need help locating the setting.

I'm receiving ghost or phantom calls

Ghost calls are incoming rings from random IP addresses scanning for open SIP ports. To stop them: enable your phone's "Accept SIP Trust Server Only" setting, configure a firewall to restrict SIP traffic to your provider's IP range, and ensure your phone firmware is up to date. We can configure this remotely.

How does number porting work?

Number porting transfers your existing phone number to our VoIP service. Porting timelines are controlled by the losing carrier and vary. You will need your current provider's account number and a recent bill. Service continues on your old provider until the port completes, then switches over automatically with no downtime.

How do I set up E911 for my VoIP phones?

E911 (Enhanced 911) must be configured for each VoIP location so emergency services receive your correct address. We register your physical address with the E911 database during setup. If you move or add a new location, contact us immediately to update your E911 records - this is required by law.

Can I use Microsoft Teams with your VoIP service?

Yes. We offer Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, which lets you make and receive external calls directly within Teams using your business phone number. This eliminates the need for separate desk phones if your team already uses Teams. We handle the SBC configuration and number routing.

Questions about managed IT services, networking, and infrastructure

What does your Managed IT service include?

Our Managed IT plan ($50/user/month) includes 24/7 remote monitoring, patch management, antivirus/endpoint protection, help desk support, backup management, and network monitoring. We proactively detect and resolve issues before they impact your business. Includes support for Windows, Mac, and common business applications.

My office WiFi is slow or keeps dropping

Slow WiFi is often caused by channel congestion, outdated firmware, or poor access point placement. We perform a wireless site survey to identify dead zones and interference, then optimize or upgrade your network. For businesses, we recommend enterprise-grade access points (Ubiquiti, Aruba) with centralized management.
